Date: red - Altitude: green - Azimuth: blue

Currently under construction in Italy, as a Millennium project, is a house, La Meridiana, the stair tower of which will have painted on its insides a series of large sundials. On the east and west walls are small holes through which sunlight projects. On the south wall is a circular horizontally placed mirror which reflects a spot of sunlight upwards. So from dawn when the sun shines through the east hole, through the hours in the middle of the day when it is reflected upwards, to sunset when it shines through the west hole, sunlight will always fall on one of the 20 dials. They are calibrated for time at 5 minute intervals, date at one week intervals, Zodiac, altitude and azimuth, and the times at which the date lines strike the horizon show the times of sunrise and sunset for the date in question.
